The Contax name was licensed to Yashica in 1973 so they could create a high-end brand alongside their budget lineup of SLRs. The S2 is spotmetering only. The S2b is centerweighted only. Main advantage of the S2 is total manual operation a la the FM2 (but with Zeiss lenses). I needed a camera that was light, quiet, felt good, and was inexpensive. In came the CONTAX 167MT.
